On average, a woman carries 2.4 kilos in her bag... It was therefore not surprising that in 2010 I suffered from a shoulder injury because I always took too much with me (more than the average 2.4 kilos). This is how the idea came up for a wallet with a compartment for your smartphone, so that you could leave the house without a bag, with only the most important things, your phone and your wallet. This was the beginning of the fairy tale 'by LouLou'. Because that's what I called my brand. A flirt with Paris from the 40s/50s. A time when men went to the front and women put on trousers and started their own companies (just look at 'Coco avant Chanel). LouLou was a cheerful name for a nice wallet and even though my ideas and values were very serious, I also wanted to give and feel good with my design. That has always remained key. This means that our products are always made fairly from day one.
Within a year I saw the SLB everywhere: hanging from a bicycle handlebar, lying on a dashboard, in front of me in the checkout line. Our Queen Maxima had the very first one, but my goal, to create beauty for all women in the Netherlands, was achieved. The wallet was a success! One thing led to another; there were so many more accessories that could have been more convenient. Almost automatically, LouLou started to grow: new products, colleagues, and an increasingly larger office. Each time a leap into a deeper depth, but with more and more confidence, a larger team and more know-how.
We are now living with a nice group of women in an old warehouse in the harbor of Scheveningen. We work hard and produce 4 collections a year with beautiful, new and smart accessories. Timeless essentials in fresh colours, with many compartments, an often extra long or adjustable shoulder strap and almost always a mirror. Everything designed by and for women. We want to provide the finishing touch to your outfit with our accessories. Stylish, smart and reliable. Your essential wardrobe piece. The part that you can always rely on, that makes you happy and in which you can easily find your own essentials. After 8 years, functionality has become our signature and now it is time to express it much more. That is why we will use the name from now on 'LouLou Essentiels' . A different name, but with the same team, the same norms and values and a very big smile. I am extremely proud that so many women are using our products, and I look forward to what the future has to offer. Or actually, what we can offer you in the future…
